Our super safe wire end vise covers are available in an economical bag of 10. These Black covers compliment our black horse fence rail.
Wire end vise covers provide for an attractive finish at the end of the run. They also protect your animals and passes by from the end of the wire and metal plate.
Our wire end vise covers are made in poly that is UV stabilised with added heat absorbers. This provides for long life and preserves the attractive finish.
The covers can be fitted in the 1.2 metre length provided, covering all vices on an end post. Alternatively on gate posts they can be cut into 140mm lengths, and placed over the each pair of vices to provide space for gate fittings. A sorter 800mm version is available, which suits 2 rail applications. The 800mm version can be more economical to transport, see black wire end vise cover -800mm..
We recommend the wire end vice covers be installed with stainless screws of 10-20mm length. (Note: Small galvanized screws are not reliable, the tightness to the thread can lead to the coating being torn of when the screws are installed). Often 4 screws per pair of vices are required, two just above the top pair and two below the bottom pair.
Our vise covers include a flexible hinge that allows them to be attached to all suitable straining posts. Specifically the hinge will allow attachment to any round post 100mm diameter or greater.
How to install wire end vise covers
1 – Measure the amount of wire required to allow for restraining, using your straining tool as a guide.
2 – Trim the wire to desired length. This is usually between 10 and 15cm. As a guide the wire when bent should nearly reach the nearest other wire end vise, immediately above or below.
3 – Then carefully fold each wire back up against the post as gently and neatly as possible. Please be careful, high tensile wire will snap if bent sharply. Use your hand and not a hammer.
4 – Consider tidying the wire further by stapling the wire to the post. Nail a staple over the wires between the vises. This step is only usually required if using narrow round posts (less than 200mm) or if the vises are not square, in a straight vertical line or otherwise a bit messy.
5 – Drill in four stainless screws for each pair of vises to attach the wire end vise cover to the post.
